City Cricket Club
City Cricket Club Incorporated was established in 1946 and is a pillar club of Northland Cricket and the founding club to the Cobham Cricket Club.
The City Cricket Club is located at Cobham Oval, Port Road, Whangārei, one of the finest purpose-built international cricket grounds in the country. This venue is also home to the Northland Cricket Association and the Cobham Cricket Club.
Throughout its existence, the club has had seventeen distinguished Life Members, all of whom have played integral and instrumental roles as the heartbeats of the club while fostering an inclusive environment and family culture. They have promoted the importance of wellbeing for both younger and more experienced members, making the club famously well-known throughout the cricket fraternity.
Key pillars underpin City’s success, both on and off the field. These include prioritising the club first, the team second, and the individual third, as well as the importance of passing on knowledge and wisdom from past to present members. This, combined with the highly effective, professional, driven, and passionate personalities on the City Cricket Club executives and committees, has led to numerous successful programs, initiatives, tours, and events. These efforts have created a strong connection with the community and resulted in achievements both on and off the playing field.
It is no surprise that City has been able to attract and maintain many loyal sponsors, funders, and supporters since their establishment, for which they are extremely grateful. For over 50 years, the Northland Cricket executive has been led by a chairman from City Cricket Club.
