Who will ever forget this day …
City Cricket Clubs All-rounder Alex Tait (better known to club mates as Taity or Spud) at the 1997/98 Shell Cup Final at Seddon Park, Hamilton between Northern Districts and a then ‘rock star’ Canterbury side will probably be best remembered for “THAT OVER” delivered by City’s Alex Tait.

After Canterbury looked to be cruising to victory, Alex’s 5th over turned the match in Northern Districts favour when he claimed four Canterbury batsman in one over (Chris Harris, Lee Germon, Warren Wisneski and Mark Priest) all in front of a packed house. The crowd was in a frenzy as Northern Districts cruised to victory with winning the final – thanks to a special performance by City’s Alex Tait!
